In the mid-2010s, Myke Towers arose as a new Latin pop rapper When his second crossover album, Easy Money Baby, debuted at No. 1 on the Latin Albums chart, Towers quickly became one of Latin music’s most high-flying talents.

Born Michael Torres in 1994 in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, at a young age he absorbed Latin American classics that included the genres of salsa, merengue, and boleros from his grandmother’s music collection. He also listened to music by Sean Paul, Ja Rule, and JAY Z, which inspired him to begin performing at bars in his late teens.

He released his debut album in 2016, El Final del Principio, a lyrical rap LP that goes back to the golden age of New York hip-hop.

Four years later, the reggaetón-infused album Easy Money Baby honored those influences with the lead single “Girl” which features a looping sample of 50 Cent's ‘21 Questions’ with elements of Brazilian funk and R&B.

Towers has been sought by superstars like Bad Bunny, Becky G., and Farruko for collaborations, which proves the allure of his ability to bring clever punchlines and lyrical grit to the modern, pop-leaning reggaetón standard while upholding the roots of classic Latin urban.
